Do you like the white background, or do you think that black should be used? I think the white is fine.

I still have to play around to get the best light to effectively show the building and it's materials.

What have I been up to the last two weeks? Just construction.

Now that That's done, I figure it's time to get this finished before design gets hectic.
So I'll continue with the sections and layouts and misc bits and pieces that I was working on before.

Hello everyone, I have sent a link to access your webpages.

Individual Pages

Hi all, I have been busy tonight fiddling around with individual pages for us all.  The best way to do this was to set up individual blogs for each of us which I have taken the liberty of doing.  I have also set up pages for the renders and layouts.
You will see the links on our team blog and also on the individual blogs, everyone of these links had to be entered individually to each blog so there is a chance of a link not working or maybe a typo with the link name, if you find one let me know.
 I have chosen to make our individual blogs look very similar to the team blogs and have stripped out a lot of stuff to make it simple for Ian to navigate, this is the idea of all the links as well, to make it as similar to a website as we can.  If anyone doesn't agree with this and feels they want creative freedom over how their blog looks we had better discuss as a group - I will point out that "visual consistency" of the website in in the matrix.  So is "overall design" of the website actually, so if you think I have done a crap job better speak up now.
Have a look and try the links, particularly on your own page, and let me know what you think.  I'm going to fool around with my own blog a bit before I make them live just to see how easy it is to edit and remove stuff.  You may choose to do a running blog or maybe just do one entry at the end, I don't think it matters but what does everyone think? Actually I wonder if they shouldn't be left until everything is finished?

Hello Comrades. Like you, I was happy the presentation went well.

Noted your concerns that I will leave the final layout and the majority of my work (since i'm on preso I'll be doing the finishing touches etc) for the last week. I should be able to render while I work on the construction drawings this coming weekend/week So then once the section renders and all are done, there will be plenty of time.

Fear not. I hardly want to let you all down. :)

An extension hey. Can we swap the extension for history or design I wonder. Your right though Andrew, we are so close to finishing we shouldn't lose track at the last minute and blow it.

I've just spent an hour in the computer lab trying to get the model loaded again and it just won't import the libraries no matter what I try. I'm going to have to pin down a time with Ian to try and get this done, it's getting a bit annoying.

Post Presentation Analysis

Hello Amazing's. Not sure about everyone else but I think today went pretty well.  I think we covered everything and when you put it all in one powerpoint we have done a lot.  A couple of things came up that need to be actioned though.

 We (I) need to develop the blog and add some links to our renders and layouts and also for our personal pages.  I will have a look at this over the next week.

Tomorrow I am hoping to be able to load the model to the server.  If it works we should all log on and at least have a look at how the messages work and maybe post a few.  The model itself is pretty complete and I have tidied it up for presentation so I don't think we should be making any changes at this stage unless anyone spots something that needs to be fixed.

The extension is a good thing and I know we all have other submissions but even if we don't do a lot of work on this over the next week or so I think we need to at least be thinking about what needs to be finalised in that last week so that we don't drop the ball at the last minute.  See you all soon.

Amazing Presentation...

Hi Everyone,

I think our presentation was great today and only a dance routine at the end may have topped it. Carla once again you power-point skills out shone the competition and and your text cloud bubble management was exquisite.☺☺So over the next week and half we have a few things to tidy up then finalise in week 14.

• We should concentrate on getting the layouts complete after 26/10 or sooner if possible.
  

• Upload of the final model to BIM / Teamwork.
  

Once we have the bulk of this done the final touch-ups and final submission dance routine can be worked on in week 13/14. I think if leave all of these things until week 14 it may erode what we were trying to achieve as a team over the break.

Monday 17th

Hiya.  What's everybody up to tomorrow as far as the tutorial goes, going or not?

Artlantis trouble.

I have added a couple of lights 2 prepare 2 night time renders. I also tweaked the lights (the roof covered the actual bulbs) and fixed a few bits and pieces with the archicad model.

Next week I should be able to do the renders, as I was having problems today with artlantis at the uni, so unfortunately I couldn't render the sections today. laptop has carked it from the last assignment...

PS the lens flare didn't work with the lights for some reason. Anyone know why it didn't show? I had lens flare on the lamps with full power ever...

Model Refinement

Sorry about the scare last night, it turned out I had to save the libraries to my mac which I didn't know.  Anyway I did some work last night on getting some elements to align better, adjusted some levels and generally tidied things up a bit.  Have some more to do tonight and will then look at saving some views for Ryan to use.  Got rid of all those sections and elevations,  I don't how they could have got there.

No joy with Teamwork

Still no joy with Teamwork today.  I got it loaded okay but the libary's are missing.  I will have another go tonight but in the tutorial today everyone was having the same problems.  If I cant get it loaded I will work on it at home to tidy up the model and generate some drawings.

Rough draft layout template

Hello Team Amazing.
Back into it at uni now!

Here is a simple rough draft of the aesthetic I'm aiming for to present our work within.
Simple geometry and minimal colour are what I personally like.
I like orange, but I could easily use other colour themes.

Ps The font sizes/locations will change, depending on how I place the images.

Please post your thoughts. Which do you prefer?

Team progress running commentary

So today we are in our tutorial as a group. We have been discussing next weeks 5% progress report and Carla is currently starting on the powerpoint presentation. It's looking great too!

Ryan has shown us some of his previous layout work and it looks great. As a group, we've decided that Ryans idea of doing the sections and elevations on Artlantis is a good one. Our plans will still be generated on ArchiCAD. Andrew is going to work on the plans over the next couple of days and send them to Ryan - he will then put them on our analogue layout.

Andrew is, as we speak having another attempt at uploading our model to BIM - hopefully it will go smoothly!

Earlier today Carla and I met up in the computer lab to finish up our final renders. Karl has finished 2 renders and is halfway through his final one.

Not sure of this render

Hi guys, this is another render I've done, but I'm not that happy with it. It kind of looks like it's out of a horror movie (thanks Carla!) - So Ryan, I'm happy if you want to do a render to replace this with. Maybe a night time one would be good - I don't think I've seen a night time one yet?

Teamwork Server and Matrix

Hi everybody.  I wanted to say that I think we have all done a great job in making progress over the break and I think we have made good use of web based tools as a workaround to the Teamwork issues.  I have just gone over the Matrix again and using BIM and Teamwork are the purpose of the assignment.  I know Ian has okayed us getting a start but I think on Monday we should try and see him, show him what we have done and make sure that he is happy with it.  I guess I am concerned that at the rate we are going we will finish the whole assignment without using Teamwork where his expectation may have been that we got a start outside of Teamwork and then loaded it when the issues where sorted.

I have currently finished one render and have another two I am currently working on in photo-shop. I will be uploading all images to the drop box once complete.

Team Meeting & Progress

Today we have met as a team and started to consolidate and implement the final touches to Andrew's model. We have commenced the rendering process which we hope to complete today. Our final sheet layout will then be comprised over the following week.

Hello everyone!

This mornings team meeting has been very successful and productive! woohoo!

We have decided to split the rendering duties between the five of us and render views of the major changes we have individually made.

I am rendering some outside shots, different angles day and night.

So far looks as though we'll complete the renders today.

Final touches

Today in our meeting I made some final changes to the interior. I fixed the sink - which has been a problem for some reason. It is now the correct size and height. I changed the flooring of the bedroom wing to timber floorboards. I also changed the eastern decking material to 'exterior siding' - I think this looks a bit more realistic. I am going to start rendering some internal images now.

Here's the new lounge area with timber flooring, new rug, bookshelf, plant and seat. I extended the walls in the NE corner to create a small amount of privacy - let me know your thoughts as I am happy to change it back. The walls are now white plasterboard in this room. Plywood panels are used throughout the private bedroom wing.

This is the new kitchen. It includes 2 custom made kitchen benches (plywood shelving/draws and concrete bench tops). Some new bar stools have been added and a rug for underneath the dining table. The floor is now polished concrete and there is now a door to access the outdoor area form the kitchen. I hope it's ok - I've tried to keep the palette of colours small and aimed to keep a flexible open plan that can be easily changed around.

Hey guys,

I have finished the landscaping to Andrews house! After seeing Fleurs beautiful internal decorating changes, ah what an inspiration, I have made the following external changes:

• External courtyard on the northern side of the house, access via the kitchen door.


• Timber screen addition to the western side of the new courtyard, as well as a concrete retaining wall for seating and a garden bed.


• Berm and swale on the northern and southern side of the house for wind protection and privacy.


• Large tree planting to the west and south of the house.


• In-ground swimming pool on the eastern side, next to Karls courtyard.


• Timber privacy screen to the northern side of the swimming pool courtyard.

I guess I can hear feedback (good or bad) at this weeks meeting. Can't wait!!

I'm back at my desk and wondered if anyone did anything to the model over the weekend and if we should arrange to meet later in the week?

Interior changes to date

Hi guys,

this weekend I made some changes to the interior spaces of Andrew's house. Firstly I put in a doorway from the kitchen to the northern ourdoor space - this was talked about as a possibility at our last meeting (Carla seems keen to landscape this area). Then I worked on the kitchen and dining spaces. I added a fridge, carpet, stools and two custom kitchen benches (made form concrete and plywood). Then I moved into the living area. I moved the existing couches, changed the materials, and added a bookcase, tv, rug and extra chair. I then changed the flooring materials. The kitchen/dining is now a polished concrete slab, the living has timber floorboards and the bedroom wing is carpeted. Exterior walls were changed to be either in-situ concrete or timber weatherboards, and interior walls are a combination of clear finished plywood, white plasterboard and concrete in-situ.

I have given the model to Carla so she can continue landscaping, and in the meantime I hope to put some images of the changes up on this blog.
